Audi Cup: kick-off for two day football festival

  • Barcelona, Internacional, Bayern and AC Milan play for the Audi Cup
  • Allianz Arena sold out, ZDF broadcasts at 20:15 on both days

On July 26 and 27 football fans around the globe look to Munich in the sold out Allianz Arena. At the second Audi Cup tournament the first semi-final sees FC Barcelona drawn against SC Internacional de Porto Alegre, afterwards FC Bayern Munich meets AC Milan. The losers contest the ‘third place play-off’ the following day, the winners play for the Audi Cup 2011. Spectators in the Allianz Arena can vote by SMS for the ‘Most Valuable Player’.

On Monday the first teams arrived at the team hotel Westin Grand; the eagerly awaited world-class football festival spreads enthusiasm among the fans and aficionados. Peter Schwarzenbauer, Member of the Board of Management of AUDI AG for Marketing and Sales, summarized the expectations at the opening press conference: “We enjoyed an unforgettable tournament at the Audi Cup premiere two years ago. The positive feedback from Munich and around the entire world increased our resolve to stage a second event.”

On Tuesday July 26 at 18:15 FC Barcelona and SC Internacional de Porto Alegre kick-off the first semi-final, at 20:45 defending champions FC Bayern Munich meet AC Milan in the second semi-final. Following the premiere in 2009 four absolute top teams compete against each other in the second Audi Cup tournament staged in the Allianz Arena in Munich. Each game is played over 90 minutes, if the scores are level afterwards the game is decided immediately by penalties.

Around 132,000 spectators bought tickets and thus form an impressive crowd for the meeting of four of the world’s best club teams under the sign of the Four Rings. On both days from 20:15 ZDF shows highlights of the first match before broadcasting live from 20:45. Furthermore, highlights of every game and the latest reports about the Audi Cup can be seen in the internet at www.audi.tv
