On 27 September, music artists such as the legendary Sir Tom Jones, Fatboy Slim, Mumford & Sons, Example and Tinie Tempah, will join millions of fans around the globe, as they paint the town black to celebrate the life and legacy of Arthur Guinness, the man behind the iconic pint.

Ireland, which celebrates Arthur’s Day for the 4th consecutive year, will for the first time ever be coming to every corner of Ireland. This year will see headline acts surprising local pubs across the country, as well as in Dublin, Cork and Belfast.

Ireland’s remarkable line up for 2012 includes: Mumford & Sons, Primal Scream, Example, Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Texas, Tinie Tempah, Ellie Goulding, Amy McDonald, Fatboy Slim, Professor Green and Mika.  In total there will be over 500 free Arthur’s Day music events around Ireland, each taking place in a local pub, across 32 different counties. It promises to be an extraordinary night of live music, featuring hundreds of international renowned artists, rising stars and home grown acts such as Rudimental, P Money, AlunaGeorge, This Club, The Minutes, Lilygreen and Maguire, Josh Osho, Jake Bugg, Smiler, Dream Mclean, The Milk, Dublin Gospel Choir, Rubberbandits, Royseven, Mundy, Picturehouse, Delorentos, Dove, Jerry Fish, The Hot Sprockets, The Shoos, The Heads of State and many more.

Tinie Tempah said, “I played Arthur's Day back in 2010 so I know all about the magic of it. I'm honoured to be invited back to Ireland for 2012 and couldn't be more excited about playing a pub gig for a small, surprised crowd! We'll be kick starting the global celebrations in Ireland on September 27th – hope to see you all there!”

In Great Britian, which joins the celebrations for the first time, Sir Tom Jones will lead the toast as he raises a pint ‘To Arthur’ ahead of his headline performace in London’s Senate House, alongside Brit songstress VV Brown, award winning London rapper Wretch 32, and indie rockers Razorlight. Paying tribute to Arthur Guinness, Tom Jones will also make a surprise visit to one of 28 official Arthur’s Day pubs in central London to perform an exclusive intimate set, to unsuspecting Guinness drinkers. Sir Tom Jones said: “I have great memories from playing the first Arthur's Day back in 2009. Bringing it to Great Britain for the first time is going to be just as exciting. I'm ready to rock London, like we rocked Dublin in the first year. I hope everyone's ready to paint the town black!”

This year the annual celebrations will take place in over 55 countries across the globe including Ireland, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Caribbean nations, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and now, Great Britain.

Stuart Kinch, GUINNESS Marketing Manager, Diageo Western Europe said, “Arthur’s Day has always been about like-minded people coming together for unique and remarkable music experiences in pubs and venues around the world.”
